JENNIFER MEE

About Us

“ She does not belong in prison for the rest of her life. I’ve written 30 books and about 25 of those books are about female psychopaths. Jennifer  Mee does not fit into that category at all”

M. William Phelps, author of the book on Jennifer Mee  “One Breath Away

We first became aware of Jennifer after watching a program about her by Piers Morgan. Although at first it was just another American crime/justice program we discussed it and thought it was wrong that this young woman would spend the rest of her life in prison with no possibility of parole. After some time of thinking about her case I contacted Jennifer to show her that she wasn’t forgotten and if she wanted to speak to someone I would be happy to do so

As time went by she has opened up to me (with great difficulty) about her past, of her very troubling back ground & why she ended up where she is. It is extremely difficult for Jennifer to recall her past as what happened to Jennifer still haunts her to this day. Jennifer is now working hard to change, to come to terms with her childhood through education, counseling and the church. Jennifer has often told me how incredibly sorry and remorseful she is for the actions she took part in on that night and would whole heartedly like only to somehow make amends to Shannon’s family

Jennifer has never asked us to do anything for her in any way be it legal means or just daily support. Yet I saw that without someone working for her Jennifer will never leave prison. So we decided to look into options and to push for a just & fair sentence, one that not only reflects both the seriousness of the crime but also to take into account who Jennifer was at the time, a trouble and misguided girl, worthy also of pity. In Europe Jennifer would have been treated with an understanding of her past and steps put in place to help her change with a view to not only punish but make amends for her action. I am now in contact with family, friends and many well-wishers who believe as passionately about this as I do.

Personally I have no back ground in law or any special skills to bring, only a dedication to help in any way possible. Distance makes it a challenge to take active steps yet nothing is insurmountable. I offer Jennifer only a passion to help bring her home to her family. We totally understand the uphill battle that awaits Jennifer and that the legal options at this point are daunting, but we cannot stand back and watch a young woman’s life be thrown away without trying to do something. I absolutely believe that this sentence goes beyond how any country should treat its wrongdoers and her sentence should come under the US 8th amendment “……nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

When we decided to campaign for a more just sentence I asked Jennifer to give me an honest account of her life. After I received it I was unsure as to how much we should make public as some of it is of a very personal nature and she may be seen by some in a bad light. So I asked her if she was OK for us to publish this and she said…

“I want to say it all so it can only get better. And it’s one of those things you grow from. I believe I’m stronger, wiser, and better able to help some other young person now because I’ve been through it and overcame it. yes I’m ok with you putting that out there. I feel its important to who I am to show how I became involved and manipulated by my co-defendants. people need to know not just so I can go home but so this does not happen to someone else’s child. I appreciate you not judging me or looking at me differently.”

That is a personal message to me from Jennifer Mee and was not meant to be published yet I felt it shows Jennifer as she is now and not a cold person that she may sometimes be portrayed
